Less paperwork, more speed: Launching an AI challenge to digitize archives
Thousands of archival certificates, applications, and logbooks still exist only on paper. This creates a bottleneck in the digitalization of public services, takes time, and leads to errors.
We are launching the Handwritten to Data challenge to find a solution: train artificial intelligence to recognize Ukrainian handwritten text and automatically convert it into digital data.
Conditions and prize fund
The competition will be held in two stages:
-
Online on the Kaggle platform — development of models based on an open dataset of government documents. Participants will receive AWS credits for model training.
-
Offline final in Kyiv — the best teams will present their solutions to an expert jury and representatives of government ministries.
The $7,000 prize fund will be split among the three best teams.
Who can participate
AI/ML engineers, data scientists, startups, R&D teams, and students. You can apply individually, as an existing team of 2–5 people, or find teammates during the competition.
When it takes place
The challenge starts on April 16, and the final will take place on July 4.
Mentorship support will be provided by leading experts from Superhuman, KSE, UCU, and the Ministry of Economy.
