Ukraine joins the European AI Board
On October 24, 2025, Ukraine participated in its first high-level meeting of the European AI Board. The Ukrainian delegation was represented by the AI team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
This marks an important step in Ukraine’s European integration and alignment with the AI Act standards. Ukraine was granted observer status by the European Commission following a bilateral request in March, allowing the country to take part in discussions and contribute to shaping a common AI policy in Europe.
Ukraine presented:
– progress in implementing the AI White Paper and plans for AI Act adoption in collaboration with EU4Digital;
– the development of the National AI Strategy by 2030, the launch of the AI assistant in Diia, an AI tool for European integration, and the creation of a large language model;
– the need for support in AI Sandbox development and regulatory institutions;
– its aspiration to join the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking.
EU countries discussed progress in developing AI Factories, national adaptation of the AI Act, the need to simplify regulation, and prospects for implementing the Apply AI Strategy across the EU.
Ukraine’s participation in the AI Board is not only a recognition of its efforts but also a strategic step toward Europe’s shared digital future.
