Ukraine signed international declaration on AI safety

The world's largest artificial intelligence safety event — AI Safety Summit — took place in Britain, attended by representatives from 29 governments, including the USA, Australia, and the EU. Participants, including Ukraine, signed the Bletchley Declaration on artificial intelligence safety. The document provides for government cooperation in artificial intelligence safety research.

Ukraine was represented at the summit by Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Georgiy Dubynskiy.

"We must follow global trends in innovation development. When it comes to cybersecurity, AI can both significantly enhance system security and simplify the process of conducting cyberattacks, making them more successful. It's important to find a balance between regulating this technology while not stopping its development," noted Yegor Dubynskiy.

One of the declaration's main goals is collective agreement among countries on developing and implementing risk-oriented AI regulation policies that would prevent negative consequences. At the same time, the summit emphasized that artificial intelligence is a useful technology for economic growth and sustainable development. However, the technology cannot develop without any oversight and requires established "rules of the game."

As a reminder, Ukraine has also recently published a roadmap for AI regulation.
